What do your freight lanes emit?

Enter your main lanes, the mode, the distance and the weight you move each year. See emissions by lane in tonnes of CO2e and per tonne-km, the form customers and tenders increasingly ask for, using the official UK Government freight factors.

Need lane data for a customer?

Send us your results. Convoy collects carrier data and reports freight emissions by lane, ready for tenders.

Your results are sent with the form so we can reply properly. We use these details only for that. See our privacy notice.

How it works

The sums, in plain sight.

Emissions = distance x weight moved x the UK Government 2026 factor for the mode, in kg CO2e per tonne-km. The factors assume average loads: HGV average 0.10356, articulated 0.07926, rigid 0.19947, refrigerated 0.12122; diesel van 0.63511; electric van 0.14699; rail 0.02583; container ship 0.01612; RoRo ferry 0.05158; air short haul 1.27835 and long haul 0.89939.

Air factors include the uplift the UK Government publishes for the extra warming effect of emissions at altitude. Without it, air emissions would be about 40% lower.

This is the distance-based method in the GHG Protocol. ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework refine it with your real loads, fuel and routes; your carriers should be able to supply that data.
