Fees per tonne are PackUK's Year 2 illustrative waste disposal fees (December 2025) and the confirmed Year 1 base fees. Confirmed Year 2 fees are due later in 2026; we will update this when they are published. Years 3 and 4 assume green and amber fees stay at Year 2 levels and apply the published red multipliers. Fees apply to large producers (over £2 million turnover and 50 tonnes of packaging) for household packaging. Nothing you type is sent anywhere unless you use the form.

Your estimate

Enter the tonnes of household packaging you place on the market for each material, and its recyclability rating if you know it. Leave it at amber if you don't.

Packaging entered
Year 1 (2025-26), at base fees
Year 2 (2026-27), illustrative
Year 2 if your red packaging were green
Yearly saving from moving red to green
Year 3 (2027-28), red at 1.6x amber
Year 4 (2028-29), red at 2x amber

Nothing is rated red, so the red penalty does not touch you yet. Check your ratings against the Recyclability Assessment Methodology before you rely on that.

How it works

Why ratings matter more each year.

From Year 2, fees depend on how recyclable each pack is. Amber pays the base fee. Red pays 1.2 times amber in Year 2, rising to 1.6 times in Year 3 and twice amber in Year 4. Green earns a discount, funded by the red payments.

So a pack that is red today costs more every year until it is redesigned, while lighter and easier-to-recycle packs get cheaper.
